VOLUNTEERING - Home-Start Lincolnshire

Help Transform a Life
Come and join us in making a difference to local families and gain free recognised training along the way.

Home-Start is one of the UK's leading family support charities – with more volunteers supporting families in their own homes than any other organisation. Without our volunteers we would be unable to do the work that we do. If you are a parent or have parenting experience and would like to help families with young children, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Before you visit your first family we will provide you with training on everything you need to know, from how it feels to visit your family for the first time through to the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding issues.

All volunteers need to be able to complete our Preparation course prior to first visit, commit to 2 – 3 hours a week to support a family. There will be regular support and supervision from Home-Start Lincolnshire. All volunteers will have an enhanced level Disclosure and Barring Check and references.

How volunteers can help?

Volunteers support local families with young children who are struggling and finding family life difficult for all kinds of reasons such as a child's disability, isolation, post-natal illness, family breakdown, bereavement, financial worries etc.  Whatever the reasons, Home-Start volunteers, visit families in their own homes offering non-judgemental emotional support, friendship, practical help and advice to help increase the families' confidence and ability to cope.  Home-Start Lincolnshire supports parents to build better lives for their children.

Reasons for volunteering
The valuable induction and ongoing training and support offered by Home-Start Lincolnshire, gives real insight into the issues facing families today. It helps to boost a volunteer+s confidence and knowledge, which, combined with their own parenting experience, provides a strong foundation to support families struggling to cope.

The training offered and volunteering experience can be a fantastic stepping stone into further education or help progress a career in areas such as health or social care - becoming a volunteer for Home-Start Lincolnshire can make this possible.

All our volunteers make a positive impact in their local area.

If you are a good listener, have parenting experience and can spare 2-3 hours a week, whatever your age, Home-Start Lincolnshire would love to hear from you. Home-Start Lincolnshire are currently recruiting, if you are interested in becoming a home-visiting volunteer please contact the us on

Fundraising Volunteer

Fundraising volunteers are needed to help raise money, in a variety of ways, for Home-Start services in your local area with the support of local staff.

Fundraising can be fun, flexible and interesting and will involve working with other volunteers to raise money from many different fundraising opportunities, participating and leading those you feel comfortable and enthusiastic about.

Examples of fundraising volunteer opportunities include working with local shops, schools, rotary clubs and businesses for support such as displaying collection tins or posters, giving raffle prizes and other donations and saying thank you on behalf of the charity.

You may also help to organise and run fundraising events such as a tea party, quiz night or anything else that interests you and encourage other people to help us fundraise. You can also fundraise yourself with activities such as helping at a bag pack at a local supermarket, selling raffle tickets or baking a cake to sell at an event list is endless.

Fundraising is a flexible volunteering opportunity to suit how much time you would like to give, to make new friends, to be part of a team, to develop your skills and experience and contribute to the work of the Home-Start.
